The Valentine’s Day Dream Date

So, let’s talk Valentine’s Day. It can be made up and too close to Christmas and all the things, but it’s also a really good opportunity to tell your wife that she’s rad. And give her a chance to really feel that.  If you’re parents, I’m decently confident that what I’m about to suggest is a dream date for her.  • YOU find the babysitter. Start the date by taking that mental load off her shoulders. Shoot the text and make sure the sitter can make mac and cheese for dinner and put the kids to bed for real.  Make sure that expectation is communicated.  • Make a dinner reservation.  • Invite her to dress up (if she hangs out here with me, I bet she has some fun ideas already) and tell her you’ll dress nicely, too.  • Put your phones away. Let the babysitter know you’re the emergency contact and let your wife turn off her phone. But let her take a good picture of the two of you first.  • Ask her questions. DON’T ask her about the kids or the bank account. Ask what she’s excited about. Ask if she’s had her eye on anything online. Ask her what book she’s reading or what podcast she’s listening to. Listen to her answers and engage. And when she asks you questions, answer in thoughtful, complete sentences.  • Don’t go home till the kids are asleep. For real.  • Give her her Valentine’s Day presents. (I’ve got links for you- just comment VALENTINE.) • When she puts on the lingerie, LIGHT HER UP with sincere compliments. You’re damn lucky. Tell her that.  • Make the night about her. The more fun she’s having, the more fun you’ll have. It’s science.  • Let this be the beginning (or continuation) of a connection that lasts way past Valentine’s night.

Flecks of Gold Journal

In my attempts to learn how to go to bed earlier, I set a simple goal for January. To write in my Flecks of Gold journal every night before bed. It has been the easiest of the goals I set for myself this month. By far. The journal is set up for success- it has just a few blank lines for each day, so I don’t feel pressure to record every thought or event- just a small moment every day that I want to remember. The little flecks of gold that, when saved in one place, become a treasure.  I can’t recommend this one highly enough.

The That Julie Girl x Fiona Grace Stack

I’m so excited to bring you a limited, final run of the TJG x Fiona Grace original stack!  We have a very limited quantity and won’t be able to restock this one again.  I’m cheering for you! Xo, Jules

Good Hair with Kitsch

We use some variation of these products in our house almost every day. If you’ve been curious about a sleep bonnet, this is a great one!  Other faves include the heatless curling rod my 20 year old daughter uses every day and big silk scrunchies that are essential to preserving your curls overnight!
