My Small Plates is a journal to help youth begin to recognize and record their own spiritual experiences. Elder Bednar has said, "If you are recording the individual impressions that come to you through the Holy Ghost, you are creating your own small plates."
In 1 Nephi, the Lord commanded Nephi to record spiritual matters on small plates:
"The Plates of Nephi, which were of two kinds: the Small Plates and the Large Plates. The former were more particularly devoted to the spiritual matters and the ministry and teachings of the prophets, while the latter were occupied mostly by a secular history of the peoples concerned." (1 Nephi 9:2–4)
We created My Small Plates to serve as your child's or grandchild's own set of small plates, a place for them to record the sacred things of their soul.
