The idea behind Perk began during a very dark chapter of one of our owners, Rena’s life. While she was deep in mourning, her husband Gary brought her a warm mug of a homemade Chai Latte in bed to help her face yet another challenging day. It was such a simple act, and yet it was so powerful. At that moment, she realized that if a warm mug of something delicious could bring her a moment of joy and comfort to help her get going for the day, it could do the same for others. Rena began sharing this pilot batch of what would become the original Chai Latte Perk flavor (complete with protein, collagen, antioxidants, and the right amount of caffeine) with her co-workers. They instantly fell in love with the drink, so much so that they would eventually sneak into her office, take the bags of Chai, and leave cash. Since 2016, Perk founders Rena and Gary’s mission has been to bring joy, flavor and connection to wellness and nutrition. Perk is more than just a great-tasting drink. It’s affectionately known as a “hug in a mug” to thousands of customers nationwide.
